ULPA Bargaining Update

We are pleased to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with the University of Lethbridge.  This will be a historic first collective agreement for the ULPA, which was legislated as a bargaining unit by the Government of Alberta in 2017.  Negotiating began in 2023 after the ULPA entered into a service agreement with PSAC.

Our last sessions with the employer were June 11th and 12th. We were able to make some big gains at the table during this recent round of bargaining. Postdocs will be enrolled in a new comprehensive benefits plan, we have been able to set the base salary for Postdocs at a competitive rate and we agreed to a Letter of Understanding for access to Campus Housing.

Your team worked very hard to get this first agreement completed and we had some significant victories along the way.

Before the new agreement comes into effect, the membership will have to vote at a ratification meeting, which is set for August 1st at 12pm. We will present the ratification package during that meeting and answer any questions before the vote. Once both sides have ratified the agreement, it will be signed by ULPA and the Employer.

Thank you for your support throughout this process.

In Solidarity,

Your ULPA Bargaining Team
